Nick Manuell

Nick is a specialist M&A corporate lawyer, with more than 17 years’ experience advising a range of Australian and international clients on their most important and challenging M&A transactions.

Nick has an outstanding track record of delivering successful outcomes to his clients. He is highly regarded for his strategic thinking, and brings exceptional commercial and legal insight to the table.

Prior to joining Clarendon Lawyers in 2010, Nick spent four years in Hong Kong with Norton Rose Fullbright, where he advised on numerous high-profile cross-border transactions.

Nick holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Monash University, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. He is also admitted in Hong Kong.

Robert Josephs

Director

Robert has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions and general commercial law.

Robert has been practising at Clarendon Lawyers since 2008, leading a number of significant M&A and other corporate transactions for his clients, which led to his appointment as a Director of Clarendon Lawyers in January 2014.

Robert’s outstanding technical skills, understanding of clients’ businesses and negotiating skills makes him a valued member of our team.

Rob’s recent recognition includes Best Lawyers in Australia (Mergers & Acquisitions). Rob has also been consistently recognised by Doyles Guide as being one of the leading corporate lawyers in Melbourne.

Rob joined Clarendon Lawyers in October 2013, and was appointed as a director of the firm in July 2014. Prior to joining Clarendons, Rob was a senior associate at Herbert Smith Freehills in its mergers and acquisitions team. Rob’s experience also includes a six-month secondment with BHP Billiton.

Alex Bean

Director

Alex is a corporate lawyer, specialising in private equity and venture capital transactions. Alex advises clients on private mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and investments, management incentive arrangements, joint ventures, strategic contracts, corporate restructuring and general commercial law. Alex has a deep understanding of his clients’ risk profiles, commercial drivers, challenges and opportunities.

Alex joined Clarendon Lawyers as director in August 2016. Before joining Clarendon Lawyers, Alex was a senior associate in the private equity team at Herbert Smith Freehills in Melbourne, having trained and worked as a lawyer in London from 2003-2007.Alex was admitted to practice in Victoria in 2009 and has completed a number of client secondments.

Nick Golding

Nick specialises in equity capital markets transactions, acting for issuers, underwriters and investors. He is also experienced in private mergers and acquisitions and general corporate and commercial law.

Mark Farquhar

Director

Mark is an experienced litigator with over 13 years’ experience acting for a variety of clients in connection with a broad range of complex commercial disputes.

Mark has conducted litigation in a number of Australian superior courts, including the Supreme Court of Victoria and Federal Court of Australia, in connection with general commercial disputes, contractual claims, class actions, consumer law claims and oppression proceedings, as well as arbitrations.

Mark also has experience providing clients with general advice in connection with a breadth of document and risk management matters.

Whilst highly proficient in conducting technical and large scale litigation, Mark is primarily focused on resolving disputes efficiently, commercially and in a cost effective manner, in order to best service his clients’ needs. Mark recognises that such outcomes will not necessarily involve the commencement of court proceedings, but may instead require a nimble and dynamic approach individually tailored to the specific dispute and the client’s requirements.

Caroline van Grieken

Associate Director

Caroline is an experienced real estate lawyer, specialising in commercial real estate transactions, and real estate issues within corporate mergers and acquisition transactions. She advises clients on a broad range of real estate related matters, from acquisitions and disposals to commercial, retail and industrial leasing and general property advisory work.

Caroline has been involved with the real estate aspects of many mergers and acquisitions and initial public offerings.

Caroline has a thorough understanding of her clients’ drivers and combines this with her broad expertise to provide commercially focused advice and results. She understands the importance of balancing commercial imperatives with legal issues. Caroline is responsive and service driven.

Caroline joined Clarendon Lawyers as an Associate Director in May 2018. Before joining the firm, Caroline was a senior associate in the real estate team at Clayton Utz. Her experience includes secondments with a corporate advisory firm, and State and Commonwealth statutory bodies. Caroline was admitted to practice in 2006.
