Clarendon Lawyers has further bolstered its director ranks with the appointment today of private equity and venture capital specialist, Alex Bean. In a period of unprecedented success and growth for the legal corporate advisory firm, Alex’s appointment to the partnership closely follows that of ECM expert Nick Golding last month.
Alex joins Clarendons from global firm Herbert Smith Freehills, where he has built a successful career in corporate law, with a particular focus on private equity and venture capital.
Alex advises clients on private mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and investments, management incentive arrangements, joint ventures, strategic contracts, corporate restructuring and general commercial law. Alex has a deep understanding of his clients’ risk profiles, commercial drivers, challenges and opportunities.
Before joining the HSF private equity team in Melbourne, Alex trained and worked as a lawyer in London from 2003-2007. Alex was admitted to practice in Victoria in 2009 and has completed a number of client secondments during his time at HSF.
In announcing Alex’s appointment to the firm’s partnership, Clarendons’ Founder and Managing Director, Tony Symons, said the firm’s directors are incredibly excited by Clarendons’ ongoing growth and the consistent enhancement of the firm’s specialist offering across the full suite of corporate legal advisory services.
“Alex is a perfect addition to our dynamic, driven partnership and he is joining us at a really exciting time. We are better positioned now more than ever to become the leading specialist legal corporate advisory firm in the market.”
“The fact that we continue to attract people of Alex’s and Nick’s caliber from national and international firms is a testament to our strategy and unwavering client focus. We have the bench strength and the depth and quality of experience to deliver exceptional client outcomes, regardless of the size or complexity of the transaction. When coupled with our outstanding service and value, Clarendon Lawyers represents a differentiated and compelling client proposition for mid-market legal corporate advisory work.”
He went on to say, “As a firm, we are proudly specialist in our focus: we are absolute experts in mergers and acquisitions, ECM, private equity and venture capital. We are seeing more and more demand for our deep market expertise and are partnering with some amazing clients as they navigate key challenges and capitalise on exciting market opportunities.”
Alex said of the move “I am thrilled to be joining Clarendon Lawyers. They are an exceptional team and provide a unique client offering, advising companies and investors at all stages of a company’s life cycle, from startup to exit and beyond. The firm develops deep and longstanding connections with its clients and that really resonates with me.”
“I look forward to adding my experience, passion and commitment to the firm’s skillset. With Australia’s focus on innovation, law firms must not miss the opportunity to contribute. It is critical they can adapt to clients’ needs, be forward thinking and agile, and consistently provide the highest level of service. Clarendons is perfectly placed to succeed in this market and I look forward to being part of the team.”
