Clarendons deepens M&A expertise with new director and internal promotion

Clarendon Lawyers is delighted to welcome two new Directors.  Andrew Chan, previously a partner of a global law firm, joined the firm as a Director on 1 February 2021 and Brendan Sheehan has been promoted as a Director of the firm, effective 1 January 2021.

Andrew has been part of corporate teams in leading top-tier law firms in Australia, including Gilbert + Tobin and Herbert Smith Freehills.  He also spent several years working in London with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, where he focused on cross-border M&A and private equity transactions.

Andrew is highly regarded as a corporate lawyer and is experienced in advising listed companies, founders and private equity firms on a wide range of corporate matters, with a focus on mid-market private M&A.

Brendan joined Clarendons in 2018 from Stephenson Harwood, an international law firm headquartered in London.  During his three years at Clarendons, Brendan has advised Clarendons’ key clients on a number of important transactions, including advising Queens Lane Capital on the formation of the Petra Industries Group and associated acquisitions, the sale of Climate Technologies to Symphony Limited, the purchase of Biarri Rail by Navis LLC and the purchase of City2Surf and other iconic events from Nine Entertainment by Ironman.

In announcing the new appointments, Clarendons’ Managing Director, Tony Symons said: “We are delighted to have someone of Andrew’s calibre and skill set join the firm.  He has an impressive track record and will further deepen our expertise in our core areas – mid-market M&A and corporate transactions.

We are also extremely thrilled to welcome Brendan to the partnership.  Brendan’s unfailing delivery of exemplary service to our clients and his commitment to executing deals regularly earns him effusive praise from our clients.  His strong technical skills and mid-market M&A expertise, coupled with this mentoring, pastoral care and keen interest in the development of our staff, are all terrific assets to our firm.”

Andrew commented on his decision to join Clarendons, “I am delighted to join a leading team of high quality lawyers and contribute to the continued growth of Clarendons”.

Brendan said of the promotion, “I am excited by the opportunity to continue to work with our exceptional team in assisting our incredible group of loyal clients.”
